Uchuva, also known by its scientific name Physalis peruviana, is a small, round, orange fruit with a smooth, glossy skin, typically measuring between 1.5 and 2.5 cm in diameter. Each fruit is encased in a delicate, papery husk and contains tiny edible seeds. Its flavor is uniquely bittersweet, offering a refreshing balance between tartness and sweetness.

To enjoy it, simply remove the husk and rinse the fruit. Uchuva can be eaten on its own as a snack, or used to enhance salads, juices, sauces, desserts, cakes, and more.
